Village Watchmen are a rustic era polearm melee infantry unit.
In-Game Description[]
A part of a peasant's duties to their overlord includes the obligation to serve in his armies when called upon. Village Watchmen represent a rudimentary security force. They have enough training to stand in formations, giving them some chance against cavalry. Their lack of armour makes them vulnerable to arrows and other ranged weapons, although their spears will help them win against most other peasant units.
Acquisition[]
Village Watchmen can be unlocked for free in the Melee Infantry Unit Tree.

Tips & Trivia[]
- Village Watchmen function best as a cheap option for pushing siege equipment. Due to their inability to assume a deep formation when bracing and general lack of stats they are not suited for actual combat.
- This unit is rendered obsolete by Serfs for resource gathering.
