Shieldmaidens are a golden era tower shield melee infantry unit.
In-Game Description[ | ]
Shieldmaidens is an elite troop melding traditional and more modern fighting techniques. During the era of the Vikings, the neglected women banded together and formed a nigh invincible troop based on the Valkyrie of Valhalla. The glorious age of the Vikings came to an end with the Seasharan empire's collapse, and so their glorious civilization seized to be. All what remained was their burning will. But how would that will be awoken, and how to save the Viking's from their endless spiritual conflict. The war of the gods three-hundred years ago destroyed their everything, including their temples. For them, the new era was simply a reincarnation of the initial chaos. For the dispirited Vikings to regain their strength, they must believe that Valhalla has been rebuilt. Thus, Shieldmaidens was born. The creator of this unit studied meticulously the tactics of modern shield-bearing soldiers and combined these with the traditional Viking shieldwall. This gave birth to a unique defensive style melding the swiftness of charges and solid defenses. Owing to this, the Vikings who once dominated the North Sea, regained their former glory in this new era. This group of female warriors will surround their general and create an impregnable wall. Yet, when the time is ripe, they will draw their swords and call upon their brethren to charge onward and crush the enemy like a tide. These warriors dance a dance of death upon the field of battle until either the enemy or they lie died, just like the Valkyrie of legend.
