Greyhair Garrison are a heroic era special melee infantry unit.
In-Game Description[]
The Qian Dynasty established Hao Jing as its capital. To the south lies Liangyun, to the east lie the Central Plains, and to the west, Maoyang. The Golden Road begins in Hao Jing and crosses through the Borderlands, conveying much wealth in both directions. In order to ensure the security of the trade route and deter bandits from attacking it, the Emperor built a fort in the desert called Linwu Fortress. As professional soldiers, the men garrisoning it are compensated for their service by the state and spend their lives watching over the desert, with few opportunity to visit their families back home. The Qian Empire gradually declined over decades. The people of the Zhang Kingdom to the west saw their chance to invade, but they were defeated at the frontiers. The Zhang general attacking the desert fortress changed his strategy, instead cutting off all supply lines between Linwu and the interior in order to starve the garrison to death. As experienced as these soldiers were, they were now helpless. Some died in battle, others died of illness. The ones who have survived are now aged and weathered and call themselves the 'Greyhair Garrison'. Though they have been guarding the frontier for decades, they are still capable warriors who will never back down from a fight.

Tips & Trivia[]
The Grayhair Garrison is loosely based on two real life armies during the An Lushan Rebellion and the Tang dynasty's twilight years, where they were garrisoned in the Anxi Protectorate along the Silk Road against the invaders while being cut off from any form of support from the central government and imperial court, having fighting alone for more than 50 years and not surrendering or retreating, and eventually died to the last men without even the imperial court knowing, who had thought they were wiped out long ago.
A poem was later written in honour of these men, The whole city is filled with white haired men, but even in death I will never throw away my Mo Dao. Having fought alone for fifty years, how would I dare to forget the Great Tang?
