Glaive is a weapon class in Conqueror's Blade.

Overview[ | ]

The glaive is a polearm consisting of a heavy blade atop a wooden haft. Glaive users have excellent defenses and have powerful assault and support skills to assist allies and lock down enemies, but have low mobility and no ranged attack capability to speak of.

Acquisition[ | ]

The glaive is the starting weapon class for all players, and so all players gain access to the level 1 versions of all glaive skills immediately upon creating an account. Glaive skills can be further upgraded using skill points, and can be used simply by equipping any glaive. Like all weapon classes, only 4 skills including up to 1 paragon (yellow-coloured) skill can be used at a time, customizable through the skills page.

Glaives are classed for heavy armour. This means that glaive users can use any combination of heavy, medium, and light armour and still be allowed to use a glaive. However, it is recommended for players to use the heaviest armour they can equip for the additional defenses.

Tips[ | ]

Skill Selection[ | ]

  • God of Battles, Warlord's Greeting, and Flying Reaper are the near-mandatory skills for any glaive user.
    • God of Battles is an incredible support skill that directly increases the damage of allies, an effect that no other weapon class in the game has access to.
    • Warlord's Greeting is a staple attack skill that inflicts concussed, which most control effect removing skills cannot counter.
    • Flying Reaper is a wide area paragon skill which inflicts thrown, one of the most powerful control effects. It also doubles as a control effect removal skill.
  • The last glaive skill is generally a choice between Heat of Battles, Charge, and Breaker of Shields.
    • Heat of Battles is another control effect removal skill that also increases defenses, making it the most popular choice amongst glaive users.
    • Charge grants glaive users extra mobility to either retreat from or engage with enemies.
    • Breaker of Shields offers good single target damage and is a choice for glaive users who wish to increase their duelling capabilities.
    • It's important to take note of the current runes when choosing from these skills.
  • Arc of Steel is generally considered to be the worst glaive skill (and one of the worst weapon skills overall) due to its very low damage (lower than normal attacks) and lack of special effects.
  • Hail of Blades is much less preferred over Flying Reaper due to its low impact, weaker control effect, and ease of interruption.

Equipment & Attribute Builds[ | ]

  • Glaive users should prioritize putting attribute points into strength. Glaive users can still maintain excellent defensive stats if using Heat of Battles.
  • When reforging a glaive, players should prioritize blunt damage to increase the damage of Flying Reaper, which has an excellent blunt damage scaling. Otherwise, strength, toughness, and armor are great stats, followed by slashing damage and slashing armour penetration.
  • The Guardsman's set is the standard choice of armour for glaive users, being the heavy armour set made using the Rare Armour Schematic. The Royal Sentry's set, being the epic armour set specialized for the glaive, is generally considered to have subpar bonus effects, so it is more productive to focus on obtaining a great Guardsman's set.

Gameplay[ | ]

  • Glaive is a heavy support class, focused on helping allied units and heroes using God of Battles and stunning enemies with Flying Reaper and Warlord's Greeting. However glaive has lackluster dueling abilities and low mobility.
  • Glaive offensive skills can be somewhat tricky to hit on heroes. This can be helped in group fights by using them on enemies who are already stunned by other heroes.

Playing Against Glaive[ | ]

  • Since Flying Reaper has a noticeable windup time, it's possible for other weapon classes which can quickly inflict control effects to interrupt this skill if the glaive user uses it recklessly. It's important to also take note of the current seasonal runes, which sometimes include a rune for control immunity for glaive paragon skills.
  • Glaive has difficulty dueling heroes due to not having enough personal damage and low mobility.
