Axe Raiders are a heroic era special melee infantry unit.

In-Game Description[]

Axes are common tools in all lands, but in the Borderlands they have been adapted into throwing weapons by shortening the hafts and sharpening the cutting edge. This type of weapon was unknown before the disasters that have beset the Borderlands, indicating that the ordinary folk were forced to improvise their own means of defence from whatever tools were at hand. In the wake of the famine and the rise of the Tyrant, inter-village warfare and raiding has become a fact of everyday life, and the throwing axe is a symbol of this grim reality.

Acquisition[]

Axe Raiders can be unlocked via the Season IX: Tyranny seasonal challenges. As the season's heroic era unit, Axe Raiders require the Outriders to be unlocked (i.e. stage 2 of the Outriders seasonal challenges completed) before progress can be made on their seasonal challenges.

Unit Traits[]

Trait In-Game Description
▲ [Slaughterers] Axe Raiders are cruel and brutally precise. When an attack command is given, this unit will throw axes at the enemy. After using Double Axe, throwing axes reduce all the enemies' defences by 200 for 5 seconds. Can be stacked up to 3 times.
▲ [Indomitable] Axe Raiders become more fierce the more pain they suffer. When their throwing axes are depleted, the unit will get two new skills: Raider Charge and Cutting Edge.
▲ [Spite] Upon taking damage that reduces its health below 50%, the unit will get increased Attack and Defence for 8 seconds and will recover some Health, based upon the number of times damage is taken within a short period of time.

Throw Axes

Throws axes to the designated area, inflicting lots of damage and knocking down the enemy. After use, Close To The Edge can be triggered within 7 seconds.

Close to the Edge: The unit charges to where Throw Axes attacks fell, dazing enemies along the way and dealing a small amount of damage. It will then attack nearby enemies.

After ammo is depleted, skill changes to Raider Charge: The unit charges as directed, dazing enemies along the way and dealing a small amount of a damage. It will then attack nearby enemies.

Close to the Edge

Double Axe

Cooldown: 9s

Each warrior quickly throws two axes at the enemy. Deals a relatively high amount of damage. When there are no targets nearby, movement speed is increased.

After ammo is exhausted, skill changes to Cutting Edge: Immediately rushes toward the nearest enemy and launches a series of quick attacks.

Raider Charge

Cooldown: 22s

Cutting Edge

Cooldown: 12s

Immediately rushes toward the nearest enemy and launches a series of quick attacks. When there is no enemy, movement speed is increased.

14 Breakthrough 2 Each level increases blocking break by 30%.
15 Close Quarters 2 Reduces melee damage taken by 5%.
16 Sweeping Strike 1 Increases the number of enemies each soldier can attack with a single normal strike by 1.
17 Vigorous Strike 3 Each level increases damage dealt to ranged infantry by 10%.
18 Move as One 2 Each level increases movement speed by 3%.
19 The Soldier's Life 2 Each level increases health by 3%.
20 Bloodbath 3 Each level increases slashing defence by 3%.
21 Resolute 1 Increases duration of the Spite unit trait by 2 seconds.
